The Duty Specialists is an AEO accredited family firm providing specialised advisory services on customs duty and international trade.

We work with companies whose products and raw materials are imported into and/or exported from the United Kingdom and other member states of the European Union.

A principal focus of our service is ensuring that client companies take maximum advantage of all opportunities to minimise (sometimes totally avoid) customs duties and related taxes applicable at importation into the EU, and also at clearance of their exports on arrival in overseas markets.

We do so by bringing to bear over 50 years of in-depth experience with the key issues which give rise to these opportunities, including:

  • The classification and valuation of goods for customs purposes
  • The rules and documentation underlying preferential trade agreements
  • The implementation and administration of duty relief regimes such as Inward Processing (IP), Outward Processing Relief (OPR) and End-Use Relief
  • The elimination of customs duties on many types of materials and components under the EU’s duty suspension scheme

Of equal importance is compliance. We strive to ensure that our clients pay not a penny more, but certainly not a penny less than they are legally required to. So we supplement our duty minimisation efforts by providing a range of services designed to assist companies in being seen, by Customs and by other administrative bodies, to approach their international trading activities with diligence and professionalism.

We strive to ensure that our clients pay not a penny more, but certainly not a penny less than they are legally required to

The Duty Specialists

Over the coming years we'll also be focused on assisting companies in taking measures (such as seeking AEO accreditation) to mitigate the anticipated effects of Brexit on their trade with the remaining 27 EU member states.

But we don’t stop there....for many years we have essentially operated as the (outsourced) customs department of a number of large companies. For example we maintain strict control of these companies’ import charges by making their customs declarations using our CFSP systems. Since 1995 we have been setting up and administering IPR and PCC procedures on behalf of companies in various parts of the country. These arrangements have resulted in lasting, excellent relationships with our clients.
